Decades (vintage & high-end consignment)
I will pay homage to style icons of the past! Women who have influenced many and have been the inspiration of top designers.
FEBRUARY 26, 2013 - JACQUELINE BISSET
The stunning Jacqueline Bisset with her smoldering doe eyes and perfect cheekbones epitomized 70's sexiness. Even as she got older, she turned many men's heads....a modern day Mrs. Robinson.
OCTOBER 1, 2012 - AUDREY HEPBURN
Audrey Hepburn's style was the pinnacle of timeless grace and elegance. From her signature short bangs to the dark sunglasses to the big hats, she was an inspiration to so many designers.
She was the muse of the late Hubert de Givenchy, French aristocrat and fashion designer, where much of Audrey's personal wardrobe was designed by him.
SEPTEMBER 2, 2012 - GRACE KELLY
Grace Kelly is known for her flawless sophistication and in a time where fashion was taking all kinds of risks (60's/70's) where "youth culture perpetrated a new, racier brand of femininity, Kelly remained a lady, integrating casual pieces into her wardrobe in a way that appealed across generations."
Her body-skimming, shift dresses, long gloves balanced by a swing coat is iconic Grace Kelly style. Ladylike, regal and classic. She was an inspiration to many designers including Oleg Cassini and Hermes who named the Kelly bag after her.
MAY 30, 2012 - MIA FARROW
Mia Farrow is the 60's/70's hollywood starlet who was featured in top films such as Rosemary's Baby where Vidal Sassoon was reportedly paid $5000 to cut off her long locks into the gamine, pixie cut she is famous for. Her style encaptures the modesque look of that era which ncluded Twiggy and Edie Sedgewick.
Let us not forget how she portrayed blue-blood, WASP princess Daisy Buchanan in the original Great Gatsby with Robert Redford. The beautiful doe eyes with super long mascara lashes, soft big curls, Peter pan collars and whimsical demeanor was part of style identity.
MARCH 13, 2012 - MARISA BERENSON
Marisa Berenson, granddaughter of famous Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli (who considered Coco Chanel as one of her biggest rivals) and was known to be the "IT" girl of the 60's and 70's She was the donned in Yves Saint Laurent and during her modeling days graced countless fashion covers, having her photo taken by famous photographers such as Richard Avedon, Iving Penn and Helmut Newton.
When she was jet-setting around the world, she liked to mix her wardrobe with bright turbans, statement jewelry and long caftans - mixing boho and city-chic.
MARCH 6, 2012 - TINA CHOW
Tina Chow was a New Yorker who graced the social scene in the 70's and ran with Andy Warhol's circle. She was consistently on the best-dressed list throughout the 80's. Her husband was restauranteur Michael Chow (of the famous Mr. Chows) and her daughter is China Chow, an actress.
Her half Japanese, half German/American paved the way to modelling which she began in her teens.
She was a jewelry designer which played a huge role in her style.
The cool minimalism yet androgynous look she exuded was further emphasized with her short slicked back hair and dark eyes. She had a massive collection of vintage clothes but her uniform of choice - white t-shirt, baggy dark pants and large costume jewelry (bangles mostly) still resonates with fashionistas today.
FEBRUARY 28, 2012 - PATTI HANSEN
Patti Hansen, top 70's and 80's model, wife to Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) and mother to Theodora and Richards (models/style icons in their own right) is still a force to be reckoned with.
Her ability to transform from all-American girl, freckles and all to sophisticated New Yorker has gained her numerous magazine covers. Her elegant and nonchalance approach to glamour and rock-n-roll have been her trademark for over 40 years.
At 56 years old, she still turns heads whether she's in a sleek camel overcoat or leather pants (rivaling a 20-something's body), she has a cool factor that very few girls today can hope to attain. There's something to be said about aging gracefully and Patti has certainly done that.
FEBRUARY 21, 2012 - VERUSCHKA
Veruschka is the Russian model who was uber popular in the 60's. At her absolute height - she was making $10,000 / day - take that Linda Evangelista! Known for her beautifully sculpted features and taut body - she was the muse of YSL and her famous safari photo below is iconic.
Renowned photographer Avedon called her "the most beautiful woman in he world."
Her style on the other hand was a combination of glamour and rock'n'roll. She continues to be an inspiration to many designers today from Gucci to Michael Kors.
FEBRUARY 15, 2012 - ANOUK AIMEE (SORRY MISSED FEB 14 DUE TO COMPUTER ISSUES)
Anouk Aimee is a French actress who reminds me of a Sophia Loren - with her cat eyes, high cheekbones and dark thick hair. Her style is very regal, chic and yet sexy. When I am buying vintage I look for pieces that Anouk wore...sophisticated with a hint of old European glamour. I think it's a rare trait nowadays to find women who can carry an air of elegance like she did. Watch her in 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita - she is exquisite!
FEBRUARY 7, 2012 - BIANCA JAGGER
Bianca Jagger was infamously known for being the wife of Mick Jagger but what you may not have known was she was a muse to many artists/designers including Andy Warhol and Halston. She was a fixture at Studio 54 and came from a well-to-do family in NIcaragua. Her style was sexy and eclectic that included turbans, grecian dresses and sequins. Her confidence was second to none - riding into Studio 54 on a white horse...if there was to be a "fashion first" it would be Bianca Jagger setting the trend.
Above the YSL suit custom designed by Yves himself for her wedding with Mick.
JANUARY 31, 2012 - ALI MACGRAW
Ali MacGraw the 60's/70's actress embodies the sexy side of the all-American girl. Her slick black hair and high cheekbones combined with her classic preppy yet subtle hippie style was admired by the likes of Halston.
JANUARY 24, 2012 - JANE BIRKIN
How can we not love her? She put Boho on the map way before Kate! Her mix of British hippie with a French twist went without recognition as Hermes even named a bag after her!
